Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade : Gameplay

The depth of controls and range of regulation is surprisingly crisp and involved! Using taps, swipes, double taps and prolonged holds players unleash their vast array of weapons in a barrage against various foes of all different sizes and strengths.

Gold and Ore which are used to upgrade weapons and armour are earned through battle yet Loyalty ribbons are the premium should be treasured.

Tips ‘n’ Tricks for Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade

Fast Fingers

Due to quick responsiveness of the game, aim to mow down as many opposing basic green skinned foes as possible with short quick bursts while scanning for upcoming opponents. Simply “Spraying and Praying” will get you nowhere and as such even if it means losing a few missions every now and then, then it worth paying heed to this credence of less bullets means more success.

Bash the Big Boys!

Following on from the previous tip of taking out the relentless waves of little guys quickly and efficiently, players must first and foremost focus on the heavy hitters that do the most damage. Even if there aren’t any visible enemies around players should still keep weapons blazing.  Destroying building and other objects will keep the “Kill Multiplier” up which results in higher bonuses after the missions.

Each mech suit can equip three different types of weapons.

The Light Weapons are the Melta and the Stubber.  The Melta is slower firing yet deals more damage and is armour piercing with the Stubber being the opposite.

The Heavy Weapons are the Battle Cannon, the Gatling Cannon and the Thermal Cannon.  The Battle Cannon has low damage with a large blast radius but is slow to reload.  The Gatling Canon has higher damage and a faster reload but lower round capacity.  The Thermal Cannon has the highest damage and slowest reload but also has a very small blast radius which means precision firing is a must.

The Mounted Weapons are the Rocket Launcher the Missile Launcher and the Autocannon.  The Rocket Launcher has medium capacity, medium damage and a slow reload time. The Missile Launcher is very similar to the Rocket Launcher but with lower capacity yet higher damage and a slightly quicker reload.  The Autocannon has the highest capacity and fastest reload yet deals the lowest damage.

When choosing which weapon to mount it obviously comes down to player preferences yet the best combination for most missions would be to mount the Melta Gun, Battle Cannon, and Autocannon.

Mediate the Melee

The Melee feature of battles often spawn without warning which unfortunately means that players accidently tap prematurely. Therefore it is necessary to pay attention to targets and hold off to time melee attacks to make each hit critical.

Just as the name implies, Blessings are a gift from the gaming gods and as such should be taken advantage of as often as possible! Blessings add power and reward boosts which greatly enhance chances of success and the spoils therewith after.  Blessings can be bought yet are commonly available through watching short video advertisements.

Forging unused items to other items increasing the stats of gear yet it should be noted that forging high quality and high level gear does not necessarily result in higher level stats compared to forging lower level items. After forging be sure to manually check each gear to equip the best option as the auto-fill feature isn’t always the most reliable.

Personal Impressions // Review of Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade

To make a long story short, … Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade is FUN! Simply as that! Yes it heavy in download size and drains battery life very fast, and yes after the first few stages of gameplay it quickly becomes a pay to win style game, yet in those first fleeting moments of initial get to know you dating, Warhammer feels like ‘the one’ who you will always treasure and cherish.  And yes, irrespective of the familiar robot war genre that 40K falls into, the nostalgia and excellence of voice over attention to detail, make this game well worth the download even if only for a few hours or days of gameplay!

There are also a fair amount of in-game advertisements and click bait ploys to entice IAP’s. Yet above all this, the game is still fun and enjoyable!!!  Another standout feature which holds true to the original roots of W4K is that players can paint their mech with very specific and intricate patterns and colours.  Four stars out of five.

  • Hi, I would like to know whether will there be a continuation of the freeblade game? I’ve completed all the campaigns and been playing the multiplayer and patrols for the past many months and am getting bored with the samw routines. And recently, a new weapon was introduced but I am reluctant to purchase it as I am not sure of the game’s situation. Hope to have your answer. Thank you.

    • Hi Wallace. Thanks for your comment! Unfortunately that is the biggest downfall of most freemium games. Despite hours of grind, they inevitably either become pay to win, pay to play more, or simply end abruptly.
There hasn’t been any chatter of any new levels to be added in upcoming updates nor any hint of an entirely new game, yet with the success of 40K Freeblade, I am sure the will be a new addition to the series at some point!
I will continue to keep an eye and ear open for any news so be sure to check back frequently.
Again, thanks for the comment and visiting Blue Lagoon!
