Miss Fisher and the Deathly Maze

An Introduction to Miss Fisher and the Deathly Maze

From acclaimed and well respected Australian indie developers Tin Man Games, masters of the digital gamebooks / interactive fiction / RPG style genre, comes the latest work of art titled Miss Fisher and the Deathly Maze.

Set in the romantic and glorious 1920’s players adopt the role of Miss Fisher as she explores crime scenes and expertly pieces together random yet relevant slices of clues to solve the case and truly be the greatest and most stylish super sleuth of all time!

Part visual novel part brain-teasing puzzler, part arcade style easy to play, Miss Fisher has a little bit of something for everyone!

Miss Fisher and the Deathly Maze : Gameplay

Through universally usable one touch tap controls gameplay is more meta and measured than other frantic and frenetic arcade games. In the first chapter, players must solve the mystery of a murdered actress as they spend the majority of their time interviews characters and investigating clues.

Tips ‘n’ Tricks for Miss Fisher and the Deathly Maze

Take your Time!

The entire premise of this murder mystery super sleuth is that of finding clues and diligently absorbing all the information given and hidden. It is therefore, imperative to not rush though any of the scenes and scenarios and instead strive to fully take in all at hand to better piece together fragments later!  This may mean re-reading certain dialogue rather than simply hurriedly scrolling through dialogue and also compulsively re-examining scenes for clues and hidden hints, and subtle signs.

Personal Impressions // Review of Miss Fisher and the Deathly Maze

Without a doubt, Tin Man Games are masters of their craft! This fact is again emphasized in Miss Fisher and the Deathly Maze with its beautiful and hauntingly clean graphics and designs along with it’s addictive ‘hard to put down’ story-arc and copywriting.

The attention to detail and reoccurring themes were players must combine clues and pay attention to all details at all times, is extremely satisfying when everything comes together and discovering new information.

Whilst most TV / movie based spinoff games are usually a horrible and blatant cash-grab pay to win game, Miss Fisher and the Deathly Maze at least does so with a little bit of class by offering a very delicious tasting followed by the chance to buy more episodes. This upfront and honest format is in my humble opinion much more preferable to games which state that they are free to play yet are riddled with IAP’s and pop-up advertising.  Therefore, as frustrating as it is when the free to play chapters are finished, on a whole, Miss Fisher and the Deathly Maze is a great example of how to create a good free game whilst still enticing people to pay for it.
That said, as frustratingly annoying it is when the free to play episodes end and the dilemma of whether to buy more chapters or not weighs in, on a whole Miss Fisher scores a very impressive four stars out of five!
