An Introduction to Build a Bridge!
Engineers of the world unite!
Incorporating elements of simulation build games, mind numbing brain teasers, physics based puzzle games and fun arcade style graphics and animation comes another smash hit from BoomBit, the makers of Tiny Gladiators. Build a Bridge has all of these components and more as players strive to bridge two land masses together as cheaply as possible, yet with enough realistic strength so that a variety of vehicles both small and large can either cross safely or jump and launch over the gaps!
Build a Bridge! : Gameplay
Extremely simply in gameplay players simply tap on a material icon to select what to build and then swipe and tap to add or remove each piece. Pieces can be adjusted once laid by holding and sliding in any direction. In essence, vehicles can only traverse on pavement which needs to be supported by wood, or steel which is stronger yet more expensive or by cables which are longer and the most expensive.
However, these parameters become redundant in the “sandbox” mode which is unlocked upon three starring the regular setting with three new and obscure objectives being tasked with players having access to unlimited funds.
Each level has different anchor points and obstacles to overcome which will need a variety of different materials and construction designs! Do you have what it takes to be the master builder of all?

Tips ‘n’ Tricks for Build a Bridge!
Less is More!
When first hit with a new level, try to complete it using as few materials as possible and then test drive it. Since there is no penalty for failure nor energy bar limit restricting gameplay, this is the best way to get a general idea of where the major stress points are and where areas of attention need be focused upon. So just to reiterate, once a basic path or jump has been set and secured with the barest of materials, test, add a little, test again and rinse and repeat! Yet above all, keep in mind that triangles are your friend!
Bigger is Better!
If the above tip of slowly growing grass roots up through repetitive trial and error does yield fruition, then try the flip side of building the most elaborate design possible and then work backwards from there taking piece upon piece away whilst testing after each removal until a perfect compromise of price and stability can be found which will reward the coveted three stars. Also, just in case you forgot remember the triangles!
Let Your Imagination Soar!
One of the most enjoyable aspects of Build a Bridge is that it is actually quite accurate in its physics based concepts. This leads players to also think logically and rationally. However it must be remembered that this is still a game and at times a silly one at that! Therefore, if stuck with at a particular build then try thinking out of the box and improvise! As wild and impossible as it may seem to a logical mind, try it test it and see if there is any merit to it! More often than not, this will simply lead to watching some fun carnage, yet on those rare occasions it can spark some brilliant epiphanies! (Not to harp on this but triangles need not be equilateral as isosceles and right angles also hold power!)
As with almost all level based puzzler games, this is the most obvious hint yet also the one I favour the least! If all other revenues have been depleted and frustration starts to set in, then use the ‘hints’. 100 coins will buy one hint which can also be earnt through watching a short video advertisement. Each level has a maximum of three hints available with the first usually being able to spark cognitive recognition on how to finish the remaining pieces. If not then use the hint option again.
If however, all hints have been used or at a loss as to how to complete the more challenging sandbox missions, then as much as I discourage it, simple go online as there are numerous walkthroughs available which can aid in completing individual levels.

Personal Impressions // Review of Build a Bridge!
The simplicity of gameplay and 2D graphics when building combined with the 3D simulation of watching as your newly constructed bridge either holds or fails miserably is very effective at hooking new comers for hours of gameplay! This minimalistic approach is also evident in its subtlety and lack of pop up advertisements and IAP’s.
The absence of any energy limit restricting gameplay further adds to the “time travel” side-effect where once picking up for a short and quick play unconsciously turns into an unplanned lengthy session of play!
The levels are designed so that players can test themselves at each stage without hitting any major brick walls or falling into a monotonous rut of simply doing the same thing over and over. So with very little going against it, apart from perhaps a more controlled zoom and delete feature (where the current double tap delete often deletes far too broad a range). And if a fan of the puzzle game genre, then Build a Bridge is definitely worth picking up and as such scores a very appreciative (and rare) four and a half stars out of five!
