Bowmasters – Top Multiplayer Bowman Archery Game

An Introduction to Bowmasters

Based on the classic world famous multiplayer game, Bowmasters pits comical characters armed with hilarious weapons against each other in PvP battles. Extremely simple to learn Bowmasters is great for short sessions of cartoon gore and is filled with a wide variety of whimsical characters from both real life and pop culture.  Can you unlock and understand who they all are?

Bowmasters : Gameplay

In this MMO players fire their weapons at each over long distances in a turn based format via a trajectory and power gauge similar to that of Angry Birds and Stickman Golf etc. With various different modes of gameplay players can enjoy single player battle against the A.I, against other real life players as well as other fun modes like duck hunting and pretending to be William Tell.

Features of Bowmasters

  • 60 INSANE CHARACTERS from all dimensions absolutely for free!
  • 60 DIFFERENT WEAPONS for total mayhem, awesome fatalities with rag-doll physics!
  • EPIC DUELS WITH YOUR FRIENDS. Grab your mates and show them what you’re worth!
  • MULTIPLE GAME MODES. Shoоt birds or fruits down, defeat the enemies in duels and get money for that!

Tips ‘n’ Tricks for Bowmasters

Whilst the first attack is literally a little hit and miss, by taking note of how their first attack flew and remembering what power ratio and angle of trajectory it was players can then adjust their second attack for a winning blow. The easiest and most sure way is to always keep power at 100% and if the first shot fell short, then raise the incline, too far then lower the trajectory.

It is very important however to remember that each hit from either the opponent or player will knock a character down and back which means players will have to alter their pervious shot by raising the trajectory by a degree or two, or much more if the character falls down a hill or something similar. These methods cannot be used all the time however, as certain distance, angles and obstacles sometimes require players to shoot with high angles and low power etc.

Without a doubt headshots do the most damage and can either end a battle quickly and definitively if accurate, or if not accurate, forfeits any damage done and opens up the chance for crushing defeat! Therefore, unless super confident try to make the first shot hit the abdomen and then slowly adjust upwards from there.

The diversity and comicality of the characters is definitely the most enjoyable part of Bowmasters! Not only does each character have a unique and amusing look and weapon, yet also their finishing moves when performing a fatality once having “finished” an opponent are at times very hilarious and well thought out.  Higher tiered characters also have special attack moves which change how attacking weapons soar and behave, often involving a second tap to trigger the special feature.  Therefore it is important to remember how each character performs to not only make the most out of attacks, yet also to keep players entertained with wacky finishing moves.

Straight vs Round Weapons.

Apart from the Special weapons, each characters weapon can be classed into one of two classes, Straight or Round. Straight projectiles are exactly as they seem and are the default weapon for the first few characters.  They fly fast and true with high accuracy and are great for pinpoint headshots, but can equally also easily miss.

Round projectiles are again just as the name implies circular in both appearance and flight. Whilst they fly slower with less power than straight projectiles they have larger contact areas and thus are easier to aim and hit desired targets.

Special Weapons behave completely different were a tap or swipe midflight activates the special. That said, it is always best to choose a character which is perfect for you, (personally my favourite character is Neko with her Kunai weapon).  That said it is important to choose the right weapon for different modes of play, for example it is a must that players use straight projectile for the apple shooting etc.

Personal Impressions // Review of Bowmasters

One of the best aspects of Bowmasters is that the levels are quick and easy to complete in a short amount of time which makes it great for play on the go as well as lengthy sessions. The sound effects are great and add to the humour of the game (and as such the sound should definitely be turned on when possible!).

The ragdoll effect combined with retro graphics add a nice lighthearted feel to the otherwise gruesome atmosphere of impaling syringes into eyeballs, flags into groins, axes to decapitate and more! This is further enhanced by the range of comical and witty characters with all of their various weapons of choice and finishing moves.

There are unfortunately a fair few pop-ups which is annoying, but most can either be closed immediately, chosen not to watch, or watched with rewarding bonus loot, which makes them not as frustrating as other games. If they do become too bothersome however, they can also be turned off by making an IAP.  The PvP matchmaking algorithm is extremely slow!  So painfully slow that it is virtually not worth playing.

Whilst Bowmasters may not have the depth and level of development and progression that other games have it is quite fun for a short while and well worth the download despite the longevity being somewhat questionable. Regardless of this, for the short term enjoyment, four stars out of five.
